150th for johnny brown

2009 marks 150 years since mr brown began thinking about a plan to free slaves,his actions kick off the observance of the 150th anniversary by october his actions set off a gun battle in a sleepy virginian town.and on the national scene a powderkeg has been lit. i wonder if anyone has any thoughts about brown and the harpers ferry raid or any aspect of his life.was he a good man?

I find that very difficult to answer. On one side he stood for a very noble cause but on the other the methods he used weren't 'noble' at all...
