Any ideas on what the social climate was like in New York City directly after the war - especially attitudes towards Confederates? I've read that there were pockets of Rebel sympathizers in NYC during the war, but haven't found much info about after. Thanks!

more than a few ex-confeds ended up in nyc after the war to make a living, confederate gen archibald gracie family home is now the mayors residence,im not sure how the people felt-but famous ex-csa were welcomed-r.e. lee could have gotten a job there for one
