I came across a great blog full of photographs of American Cities during the Civil War

I was particularly Moved by the pictures of Atlanta - you could almost imagine being there

Federal Camp outside city hall, Atlanta Georgia

Federal camp outside of City Hall, Atlanta, Georgia. General Willima Sherman Took Atlanta on September 2 1864.

He wired President Lincoln to say, "Atlanta is ours; fairly won." He forced the entire city to evacuate.

This is a picture of the Shell Damaged Potter House - it speaks volumes.

One can imagine what it looked and felt like before - Serene and proper , as oposed to the feeling from this picture

complete desolation.

The next two photo’s are a before and after of the train depo just before it was blown up. before it already looked slightly abnormal and gostly and after - once again - a picture is worth a thousand words.
