having just watched the movie "gettysburg" for the fourth time i have noticed what i belive to be "poetic licence" by the film makers - as the confedertes infantry lined in the trees behind the artillery LEE and PICKETT rode across their front which bought the troops out of the trees and cheering very loudy -
i had read somewhere that the men were under strict instructions not to cheer ,as was their habit,for fear of betraying their presence to the nearby enemy
and alerting them that something was about to happen

gettysburg the movie is full of holes ill watch it again and then list them on monday
