Hi! I am here because I am trying to get on some more civil war forums to expand my knowledge of reenacting. (I started the hobby a couple of months ago) I am a (soon to be) fifer for the 32nd Iowa.

fifer32-hello and welcome,please tell us about your experiances reenacting as abandsman i am curious.how often do the units meet?

Well, we will be having spring drills in april, and from there on, we average 1 battle per 1-2 months until september. Well, I didn't have my fife when I started a couple of months ago (september) so I was a runner. Its very cool!! You give actual orders to the commanders from the general (not just run around randomly for show) and when dead are needed, you go and tell the commanders. Example: 24 dead needed. and it is a lot of fun just talking to everyone around camp. for about an hour I talked with some guys mostly about civil war time stuff, but it varied some. The night after the battle I played my violin (fiddle) for everyone for a while. You wouldn't know how popular that song from ken burns civil war movie is...

i wish i had time to reenact,keep us posted.
