"The Longest Night" gets into the weapons used in some detail, including the different rifles then current in European armies, and the state of the small arms technology. Hess' "The Rifled Musket in Civil War" isn't so much a technical look at the arms used, as an argument that such weapons as the Springfield and Enfield were incremental improvements over the smoothbores they replaced.

The above link can provide usefull information
on arms used during the civil war, not sure of any books that would be of any interest.

I did a small bit of research on your question and came across this title: "Rules for the Management and Cleaning of the Rifle Musket, Model 1863 for the use of Soldiers with Descriptive Plates." It's available as a reprint of some re-enacting supply sites. I found this on www.fcsutler.com though I'm sure it's available on other sites, and you might be able to find a copy in some libraries, especially university or state archive libraries. This is a book CW soliders would have used. I don't know if this helps, but thought I'd post just in case.
