in the union army VI CORP during the battle of gettysburg can anyone inform me as to who commanded the second divisions first brigade and what units made up the brigade ( my list is incomplete

I think the commander of the VI CORP was Major General John Sedgwick. You could find more information about the battle on this article: http://www.batteryb.com/battles/gettysburg.html

VI Corps -- Maj General "Uncle John" Sedwick
VI Corps 2nd Division -- Brig General Albion P Howe
VI Corps, 2nd Division, there was no 1st Brigade on the rolls during Gettysburg. The 2nd Brigade of VI/2 was commanded by Col. Lewis A Grant and contained the following units --
2nd Vermont - Col James Walbridge
3rd Vermont - Col Thomas Seaver
4th Vermont - Col Charles Stoughton
5th Vermont - LtCol John Lewis
6th Vermont - Col Elisha Berry
