Thanks again, I have another quote I have always used and found difficult to trace. Jacob Cox, on the topic of generalship, wrote or told someone words to the effect that very few have the capacity to command a division, even fewer a corps, and almost none an army. This seems obvious, but a lot of people seem to have trouble with the idea, and it is one of the most intelligent observations about the mysterious of leadership I know of. I am unable to locate a direct source for it.
