john brown is 59 years old on may 9th 1859 the past nine years has seen his prosperity dwindle while his family grew.five of his sons must have felt as he did about slavery for they went first to kansas-a battle ground brewing over slave versus free soil,owen,jason,frederick,salmon,and,the oldest john jr-in 1855 they ask dad for help.they were 'liberty guards'jayhawkers vs border ruffian-bleeding kansas was right you can say the civil war between the states started here brown and company kill five at potowomie.at another spot he gets his nickname osawatomie-he loses son fred here but it just serves to make him get the mission accomplished-here in kansas he will meet some of the men who join his army he has become famous by now.a raid into missouri results in the murder of a plantation owner which in turn causes abounty and arrest papers for brown he heads north for two days in 1858 may 8-10thhe holds what he calls a convention in chatham canada he forms his goverment here with a provisinal constitution and ordinances with articles and motions and electing officers and basicly a manifesto against slavery if god or the us goverment wasnt going to stop slavery he john brown would.a year later brown's in maryland collecting iron pikes to arm his ex-slave army that will surely rise to help him.
