the big news today in 1863 the usa is going to attempt to take back the hills surrounding chattanooga tn where a greatly reduced confederate army commanded by braxton bragg waits,what they have been waiting for doesnt seem clear. general grant has his men in place and first on the list is for csa held orchard knob to be taken-this he orders george thomas and his much maligned army of the cumberland to do,they will move forward this day and take the positions. tommorow will be even grander in the eyes of the scribes-"the battle above the clouds" chattanooga could have been the great turning point for csa out west.
