if the civil war had never happened, would slavery would eventually have been abolished?

great question,i think yes,i hope yes.imagine if the south still had slavery today.wow!it would be hard to travel south of mason dixon line-another john brown would rise or free blacks in the north would do something about it.something would have to give.great question.

My dad says that slavery would have died of natural causes. But this is interesting, in my research I've found that about 90% of Rebel soldiers fought for state's rights and a small number fought for slavery.

The Civil War was never, not about slavery! In fact the South was mainly a farming economy with rural farmers who answered the call to arms in order to repel Northern agression. Slavery had been abolished in Britain 30 years before the outbreak of civil war and most US states would have or were in a state of getting rid of slavery. Slavery was used for black propaganda purposes to justify a rational for going to war.The Southern economy did not rely on slavery so why would it even consider going to war?
