i could go on and on about that trip i took, just thought id mention this about the port gibson area-after the windsor ruins theres some markers for the battle next to a church that was there in 63.we turned down a road-paved yes-but no wider than it was then and surrounded by forest. i have to think its what the soldiers saw when they marched down that road at one point we turn onto a dirt road with steep banks on each side, now ive been to many a site and this road has to be one of the most amazing ones ive seen-it has to be exactly what those soldiers saw-just thought i would add that. the rest of the trip consisted of going to grand gulf[very nice park]and vicksburg. this time in vicksburg i spent going around the monuments on old park land and now just public roads-amazing. also went to the old courthouse museum-awesome and a man told me there a couple of those caves the citizens had to live in still existing on private prop,so i didnt see one but he said people who own one might just let peeps come and see-i hope because that would be something.
