just back from vacation.i was able to visit three sites never been too before,1-morris island sc,by small boat -capt cresh took me and the wife to lower end of island only had 1 hour there took pictures from 2 miles away where battery wagner was,erosion from sea mostly has it now.union army camps and start of attacks where wew were-collected some nice shells and sand dollars,saw three people heading toards area with a metal detector,captain told me stuff still unearthed [or unsanded?]by water shell fragments-bullets,he told me his grandfather found tons of stuff including bones[they would rebury them on island]hes even found a few over the years,anyway iwant to go back and walk to cummings point and photogragh sumpter from there.great time.later we drove around charleston,great city-took a photo of some of the citadel buildings[they ,on morris isl in jan 61 fired on ‘the star of the west’ reiief for the fort-1st shots of the cw]few days later after a 70 mile boat ride we were in the dry tortugas florida keys-fort jefferson-tropical island paradise,in january very nice-summer time can be hot,dr mudd and co. found out hard way,they have nice gift shop devoted to nautural nature things and a couplr cw books on lincs killing.mudds old cell has his picture and a plaque on wall plus over doorway carved in wood is the words”whoso entereth here leaveth all hopes behind!”luckily we had the fast cattamaran yankee patriot 2 waiting for us,if you go its  anational park no shelling is allowed and watch out for sea sickness,it got me[by shelling i mean collecting sea shells not firing cannon]anyway great time great place highly reccomend not just for cw.third cw site we went to see-irwinville georgia state park is dedicated to spot where the yankees caught up to jeff davis small park had excellent museum,excellent staff,gift shop,film i cant say enough nice things .moument on spot he was taken with bust of him on top,and trace of original road-site has self guided tour,nature walk.you could have functions there if you chose to do so anyway check them out if you have a chance.rest of vacation mostly in miami fla visiting sis and family.if anyone wants more info ill be glad to answer .i was thinking of writing indept histories of each site to explain cw connection but you the reader i fiqured could look it up your selves that would be more fun,at least i hope it would.see ya.      kevin a
