About fifteen years ago, I was retained by a motion picture company to make copies of the West Point class of 1861, class rings. I was given access to the originals, from which I made molds. Those molds are long gone now. So, I am unable to make exact reproductions of the rings. But I have hand carved a replica of the May class ring and am about to begin work on the June ring. These are faithful reproductions that are about as close to the original as possible.
I am not selling them at this time. But, I am interested to know if there would be any interest in such a thing. If you would like to see the May ring, you can see it on a site that I have set up for that purpose at http://www.1861ring.com/ Please give me any feed back that you might have.
Cheers
Craig

I no longer reenact civil war, and did not do an officers impression in any case. But I imagine some who do, might have some interest if the price was not too high. You might want to pitch it at reenactment units, particularly those who do regular union infantry impressions (as opposed to volunteers whose officers would not be west pointers). I imagine some reb units had west pointers at the helm, though these may have all been kicked up the ladder due to having actual experience and not been at the level of command represented by reenactors.

Thanks for the comments ansd suggstions fellas;
You might be surprised to find out how many of the southern officers were West Point graduates. Robert E. Lee, a veteran of the Mexican war and later a Confederate General was one of them. I havn't researched all of them. But I would be willing to bet that some of the class of 61 went sout too.
