was middle creek ky battle important to overall civil war strategy, they have some of battlefield saved and call themselves a national battlefield because they were declared a national historic site but except for the individuals living around there and the men who fought and died why was it important?i know it didnt hurt james garfields political career.what did battle mean to the war?does anyone know?im willing to bet most people have never heard of the fight.that part of ky became a sort of no-mans land the mountains were very hard on campaigning.
